Universities: The last refuge of communists

Universities are the last refuge of the communists, but nice to see other people begin to object about too much of Marx opium being fed to students. The commie professors would not easily desist from their mischief in sociology and history books.

Delhi University: Too much Marx in sociology syllabus?

NEW DELHI: While passing the syllabi of final two courses, Delhi University’s Academic Council on Tuesday asked the sociology department to revise their syllabus as some members believed it included “more than necessary number of papers on Marx”. The AC asked the department to review the syllabus and incorporate the changes within three months.

“The syllabus appeared biased in content and ideology. There was so much literature on Marx even where it was not required,” said Sanjay Kumar, a council member. “We suggested the inclusion of Indian thinkers like Ambedkar.”

Other council members, including Rudrashish Chakraborty of Kirori Mal College, maintained that teachers were intent on “brow-beating the head of the sociology department into deleting any liberal progressive values from the syllabus, especially those belonging to the left”.

The history syllabus was also passed but, again, with several members registering protest. “There are too many selective readings, as many as 40 in some cases. Also, there are few Hindi medium books,” says Kumar.

Ajay Bhagi, another AC member, also objected to the over emphasis of Marxism in the syllabus. “History is a major subject and we were given less time to make an informed choice. Moreover, we found that the syllabus was designed keeping in mind the fourth-year exit. There is a structural flaw as it doesn’t cover all relevant topics for a student who would like to exit in the third year,” says Bhagi.

“We also asked for the deletion of topic on communalism and ideologies which named institutions like RSS, Hindu Mahasabha and Muslim League. Communalism is an important topic but how can an academic institution say these are communal organizations?” asks Bhagi.

There were 10 dissents on the history syllabus — five from a group opposing the four-year programme and others on communalism. In addition, there were six dissents against the “nature of the proceedings”.

The teachers protested against “vitriolic attack” on Prof Satish Deshpande, sociology HOD, in the council meeting on Monday for incorporating “a reference to the uneasiness and problems faced” while preparing the syllabus.

  1. What is wrong in saying that ‘Hindu Mahasabha’ and ‘Muslim League’ are communal. Are we supposed to read a revisionist history.

    • Indian Realist

Did Hindu Mahasabha ask for partition of india?

      • The word ‘communalism’ does not restrict itself only to religion. But the answer to your specific question is that the idea of partition was first articulated by the Hindu Mahasabha long before Jinnah was even relevant. Its chief mentor V.D. Savarkar formulated the two-nation theory in his essay Hindutva, published in 1923, 16 years before Jinnah came up with it. It might be worthwhile, even if boring, to read up the original book “Hindutva : who is a Hindu? by Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, Pub.Swatantryaveer Savarkar Rashtriya Smarak, Shivaji Park, Dadar West, Mumbai. Also available as “Essentials of Hindutva” @ Savarkar Bhavan, Raja Thakur Path, Shanivar Peth, Pune. Available free to download on net.
Further, The Hindu Mahasabha leader Lala Lajpat Rai wrote in The Tribune of December 14, 1924:
“Under my scheme the Muslims will have four Muslim States: (1) The Pathan Province or the North-West Frontier; (2) Western Punjab (3) Sindh and (4) Eastern Bengal. If there are compact Muslim communities in any other part of India, sufficiently large to form a province, they should be similarly constituted. But it should be distinctly understood that this is not a united India. It means a clear partition of India into a Muslim India and a non-Mulsim India.” This was 16 years before the League adopted the Pakistan Resolution in Lahore, on March 23, 1940.
Finally, The historians of the Hindu Right, R.C. Majumdar and A.K. Majumdar, refer in Struggle for Freedom (Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan; 1969; page 611) “to one factor which was responsible to a very large extent for the emergence of the idea of Partition of India on communal lines. This was the Hindu Mahasabha…”
Enough for today, but promise to open more cans of worm if requested.
P.S. In my book Hindu Mahasabha, Muslim Legue, Akali Dal, Shiv Sena , Telengana Rashtriya Samiti etc. are all communal. Partition cannot be the only criterion.

        • kcsharma2012

I am no historian but have a question.Lal Lajpat Rai did think about partition on communal basis but did he ask for it? He was a respected leader of Congress. Why is Savarkar held responsible for partition and not Lajpat Rai & Jinnah.

          • Indian Realist

I personally believe that Partition was the best thing to have happened to India to save the Hindus — otherwise, there would have been 50 Pakistans in India today. The only mistake Hindus made was to agree to Gandhi and Nehru to not allow full transfer of population despite giving 1/3 of land to Muslims — such a heavy sacrifice and it was in vain because Muslims have managed to increase their population in India again. I believe there would be another partition in the next 50 years. The only solution is to invade and capture Pakistan and Bangladesh and then force full transfer of Muslims there. Otherwise, there will be hell to pay for Hindus in the next few decades. There may be another partition for Christians — the church and CIA are working hard towards it by organizing mass conversion programms.

            • Good one! Spot on as usual. I read thro my daughter’s textbooks in BBA and was amazed at the subjects being treated on the basis of communism/ socialism which have zero to contribute to economics or business. Bookstalls are full of books written by Amartya Sen, Ramchandra Guha and the like. We must have well researched and well written books on OUR concerns mass produced. eg. I understand that R.C. Mazumdar’s series on Indian History is sold out on a regular basis. Thank god!

Christian Liberation Theology is the product of Universities.

    • nitha

Liberation Theology is more dangerous than communism. It is deadly cocktail ideology of communism and communal ism .

    • ravi

The term was coined in 1971 by the Peruvian priest Gustavo Gutiérrez, who wrote one of the movement’s most famous books, A Theology of Liberation.
Other noted exponents are Leonardo Boff of Brazil, Jon Sobrino of El Salvador, Óscar Romero of El Salvador, and Juan Luis Segundo of Uruguay.

Many Christian action group cadres have also been inducted into prominent naxalite groups under the garb of liberation theology activists.
This Satanic ideology is cause of all problem:
For instance Vernon Gonsalves @ Vikram, a state committee member of Maharashtra unit of CPI (Maoist) who was arrested by the ATS, Maharashtra, in August,2007 and another top Maoist leader Arun Ferreira, r/o Bandra, who was arrested by Nagpur police have both confessed to the police that they are activists of liberation theology movement.

(1)Shocking Stories from Assam – Gun Point Conversions by Christian Terrorists by Manmasi National Christian Army
This group of miscreants, dressed in black with a red cross on their back, along with arms, enter from Tipaimukh through Barak river by boat and mount Bhuvan Pahar. They threatened and asked the Hindu people of Tezpur village, including the priest of this famous Hindu temple, to convert into Christianity.

        (3)In Tripura:
For decades Tripuras indigenous tribal population has been dragged out of their homes and forced to convert to Christianity under threat of violence. Whenever any of the tribals organize Hindu festivals or rituals, the terrorist groups attack to desecrate and kill the participants. There have been incidents of issuing a ban on the Hindu festivals of Durga Pooja and Saraswati Pooja. The NLFT manifesto says that they want to expand what they describe as the kingdom of God and Christ in Tripura. The hill tribe Jamatiya worship in the month of March their traditional god Gadiya, who is supposed to be an incarnation of Lord Shiva. The terrorists have issued an order that the Gadiya be prayed on the Christmas day instead.
Another church official, Jatna Koloi, who was also arrested, admitted that he received training in guerrilla warfare at an NLFT base . It is now apparent that the pattern of forced conversions at gunpoint are irrefutably linked to the Baptist Church in Tripura. The NLFT is accused of forcing Tripura?s indigenous tribes to become Christians and give up Hindu forms of worship in areas under their control.
In Tripura, there were no Christians at independence; there are 120.000 today, a 90% increase since 1991.

The figures are even more striking in Arunachal Pradesh, where there were only 1710 Christians in 1961, but 1,2 million today, as well as 780 churches!
        (5)“NAGALAND FOR CHRIST”
The Nagaland Rebels is a coalition of rebel groups operating in
Nagaland, northeastern India. The largest of these is the National
Socialist Council of Nagaland-Isak-Muivah (NSCN-IM), which is fighting
for the establishment of a “Nagaland for Christ”. The NSCN-IM
have carried out numerous acts of terrorism against the Indian Army,
other ethnic groups, and opponents within their own ethnic group.
The insurgency has been waged since the 1947 Indian declaration of independence, and has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths.

Baruah writes that “Christianity is an essential part of Naga
identity”; the NSCN-IM estimate that 95% of Nagas are Christian.

(6)India is losing Manipur due to Christian terrorism
A couple of years ago, media was shouting about ‘Hindu Terror’. Somehow, they do not speak about ‘Christian terror’ which has been present in India’s North-eastern states for a long period. Tribals who converted to Christianity are equipped with weapons and made to fight a ‘war of independence’ against India. Manipur is a unique state where about 60% of the people (mostly in Inner Manipur district – around Imphal) are ethnic Manipuris who are Meitei Vaishnavas. The Nagas (who form the rest of the population) live in Outer Manipur district and they have been converted to Christianity en-masse. Meitei Vaishnavas are proving to be a tough nut to crack for the Christian missionaries and have been targeted by Christian terrorists through the decades.

        (7)In Odisha:
In February 2012, the Maoist leader Sabyasachi Panda confessed that it was the Maoists(Evngelaicalist Christians )who indeed killed Odisha MLA Jagbandhu Majhi in September 2011 and Swami Laxmananda Saraswati in 2007. The killing of the latter was motivated by the religious discourse in Maoist terror that has pervaded Kandhamal district.
As per a member of parliament of the Congress party from Odisha,India about 70 MLAs and 10 MPs are under constant Maoist threats. This constitutes half the elected members from the state, the total number of MPs being 21 and MLAs 149.
        (8)In Chhattisgarh:
Maoist rebels extort up to Rs 300 crore every year in Chhattisgarh from traders of forest products, transporters and iron ore mining firms, Maoists extort at least Rs.250-300 crore annually and their extortion business runs from the state’s southern tip of Bastar to the northern Surguja district. They mainly extort money from traders of ‘tendu’ leaves, iron ore mining firms, small and big contractors and transporters,
Tendu leaves, which are used to make bidis (leaf-rolled cigarettes), are one of the most important forest products of the Bastar region that has been considered the centre of Maoist terrorism in India since the late 1980s.
The restive region spread across 40,000 sq km has deposits of about 20 percent of the country’s total iron ore stocks and owners of the mines regularly face extortion demands from Maoists. The traders, businessmen, contractors and others who pay extortion money hardly have the courage to report it to the police because of the fear of Maoists and their own business interests in the region..
Of the 1,500 casualties in Maoist violence since the state came into existence in November 2000 after splitting from Madhya Pradesh, 90 percent have been from Bastar.
        (9)In Andhra Pradesh :
In Andhra Pradesh, churches are coming-up every day in far flung villages and there was even an attempt to set-up one near Tirupati.

Black liberation Theology is even more extreme. This theology was used by Marxist regimes to take over churches in Africa and Central America. They use “Christian” terminology they promote violence to overthrow governments and populations. It especially became popular in Nicaragua in the 1980’s with the pro-sandanista dictatorship. It used Marxist strategies to be an impetus for the people to rebel where violent revolution was used. In some churches Jesus was represented as Sandinista soldier identifying with the oppressed.

In this episode the Right Wing Reverend explains how black liberation theology depicts Jesus as coming into the world to destroy the works of Satan. In contemporary society this Great Satan is seen in the powers that enslave and demean human beings. From the black perspective this Great Satan is seen in the white race and its power structure that dominates the American landscape.

    • Padmanabhan

The filthy, ugly little sister of Marxism, and therefore Satanism, is Liberation Theology; the idea that Jesus was just a communist ahead of his of his time and that true “freedom” (liberation) comes from forcibly taking wealth from the rich and giving it to the poor. It’s no surprise that the Roman Catholic Church is a prime proponent of this teaching. President Obama’s spiritual mentor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, is a hardcore advocate of Liberation Theology, as well. Though a Lutheran (the mainstream Lutheran church teaches Lib Theo) , Pastor Wurmbrand is totally against Liberation Theology.

Winnowing Hard For The Truth … To Delineate The True Church From The False : May The Grains Of God’s Word Fall To The Ground, In Plain Sight, For All To See
It is common knowledge in America that President Obama and the Democrats are fanatically steering their citizen towards Communism. The so-called Conservatives, the Republicans, are powerless and impotent – they are no bulwark against this effort – if anything, they are part of the problem.

Today we face a multitude of dangers from forces that strive to pollute the Christian message. The invasion of cults and non-traditional faiths has deceived millions of people, but none of these groups is anywhere near as threatening as a certain lie that is able to freely travel beyond denominational or faith barriers. “Liberation theology” is one of Satan’s greatest soul-destroying tools.

      • Why blame ‘satan’? He is being blamed for all the sins for centuries. Why ‘GOD’ with all his power and glory hasn’t finished him him for once and all? May be he is not as powerful as we are made to believe. Poor chap!

  3. In India no book of sociology adopted syllabus is worth to be include it in social science category. The reason is the composers and their qualification that is undermining the subject bearing no essential knowledge of natural science and doctrine of social justice. What said Marx, what meant Ambedkar, what reveals in Jesus’ thoughts or what was the intention of Prophet Mohammad are futile if such matters are neither taught nor learnt with the knowledge of natural science and doctrine of social justice. A whim of them and intricate logic can hardly serve the purpose. What we study may not be a reality and need not be agreed with all that affirmed in the syllabus. It would be fair to refer many foreign universities’ approach with regard to sociology to frame syllabus. History and sociology are the subjects of huge junk and personal thoughts and ideas and also promulgated better suitable to the belief and psych of the people and the state of affair of a country. There is no stress on logic up to the level they must be.

  4. Marx may be worth reading. But only for reading. Those countries who followed Marx had to dump him and will never try to follow him again.
Hopefully same fate awaits secularism as practiced in India. Those who equate Hindu Maha Sabha & Muslim League are insulting our ancient Hindu civilization and culture.

  5. kcsharma2012

Another question.Either the two nation theory is valid or it is not valid. If it is valid then even after the partition, there are still two nations in India. So another partition? If it is not valid, why the partition of 1947?
