Maoists are now ready for final assault to overawe India
By RSN Singh, Canary Trap

An analysis of recent events related to Maoist terrorism shows that the four-decades-old phenomenon has entered its most dangerous phase. The abduction of two Italian nationals, Paolo Bosusco and Claudio Colangelo, on 18 March, the deportation of 10 French tourists from Bihar in the last week of April, the abduction of the Odisha MLA Jhina Hikaka on 24 March, and the abduction of Alex Menon, the Sukma Collector in Chhattisgarh and the killing of his two bodyguards on 21 April — may appear ostensibly disparate occurrences, but are linked.

When pieced together, they suggest that Maoist terrorism has entered a critical phase wherein a final assault is being made on the political fabric – Indian democracy. Crucial to this assault are the international benefactors of the Maoists and their over-ground elements in the cloak of intellectuals and social-activists.

In fact, this assault was discernible some years ago and the foreign-hand was quite evident when members of the European Commission descended on Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh, to witness the trial of Binayak Sen in the high court. The internal hand was also quite evident when subsequently an outrageous step was taken to appoint Binayak Sen as a member of a health committee of the Planning Commission. The idea was to ‘cock a snook’ at one segment of the Indian establishment even while another segment was hopelessly engaged in restraining the Maoists.

It was meant to be an assault on the psyche and morale of the security forces. The anti-national agenda of the white-collared Maoists triumphed over the patriotism, sacrifice and diligence of the security forces.

The collaborative or dismissive or nonchalant attitude of the Indian establishment continues to sink to abysmal depths. While politicians, bureaucrats and media personnel make a beeline to the house of Alex Paul Menon, the abducted collector who was recently released, the sacrifices of two policemen guarding him have gone altogether unsung. One of them was 28-year-old Amjad Khan. He was shot three times from point-blank range. This three-bullet treatment by the Maoists was because Amjad had retaliated when his colleague Kujur, the other jawan, was killed. Amjad belonged to the minority community and Kujur was a tribal.

The BJD MLA from Laxmipur in Odisha, Jhina Hikaka, is also a tribal. It was the tribal who voted him to the Assembly. He is the people’s representative. In a ‘Kangaroo Court’, the Maoists allegedly extracted a promise that he would resign from the assembly. This was said so by a Maoist leader calling herself ‘Aruna’ in an audio message aired by a local television channel. Ironically, in the forefront of the abduction operation of Alex Paul Menon in Chhattisgarh was also a woman.

One of the Italians, Paolo Bosusco (right), had visited the area several times before and enjoyed the hospitality of the Maoists. His being taken hostage was a staged drama to humble the Indian state.

The Maoist leaders have, over a period of time, created such terror that women have no option but to become tools of violence and sex in the service of male cadres. Villages are being terrorised to ‘donate’ at least one child from each family to the cause of Maoist terror. This is the story of the ‘liberated zone’ of the Maoists. Those who resisted formed the ‘Salwan Judum’ (peace-march) only to find security in the ‘non-liberated zone’ of the Maoist or government-controlled territory. But our so-called intellectuals, or white-collared criminals supporting the Maoists, gave the ‘Salwan Judum’ movement a totally new meaning. They, and the international benefactors of the Maoists, went on an overdrive in every conceivable public platform, importantly the media and the judiciary.

Coming back to the Maoist assault on the political fabric of India, only six months ago the Maoists had gunned down another BJD legislator, Jagabandhu Majhi, and his security guard . He was a popular tribal leader and represented the Umerkote constituency. He was wheelchair bound as a consequence of an attempt on his life by the Maoists in 2004. All his life Jagabandhu had fought for the land rights of tribals. Ironically, the MLA was killed while distributing land ownership papers (pattas) to landless tribals. He was killed because the Maoists were unnerved by the feeling that their constituency was being weaned away.

The Maoists do not brook any element or organ of the state which seeks to dilute their sway over the people in ‘liberated zones’. The only people who can end their captivity under the Maoists are politicians, particularly elected representatives, whatever their worth. That they are desperately looking for windows of opportunity to break away from Maoist shackles is substantiated by their participation in elections despite the diktat of the Maoists. Most small-time and influential local politicians in the Red Corridor have either been eliminated or terrorised by the Maoists.

Such has been the level of Maoist terror that in the panchayat elections in Jharkhand and Odisha, a large number of seats went in favour of the Maoists uncontested. There were many other seats wherein victory for the proxy candidates of the Maoists was ensured by sheer terror. With large sums of money now being allocated by the government directly to panchayats, a situation has now arisen wherein the government will now be directly funding Maoist terror.

Having eliminated or terrorised local politicians, it was only logical for the Maoists to begin targeting MPs and MLAs. As per a released press statement during the hostage drama of Jhina Hikaka by the Andhra-Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC) of CPI (Maoists), all MPs and MLAs of Koraput district are on their hit-list. As per a member of parliament of the Congress party from Odisha, about 70 MLAs and 10 MPs are under constant Maoist threats. This constitutes half the elected members from the state, the total number of MPs being 21 and MLAs 149.

The Maoists have spread their influence in 24 of the 30 districts in the state. This is a growing phenomenon in the entire Red Corridor spanning Andhra, Maharastra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Bihar. During elections, in most Maoist-affected areas, there is no polling after 3.00 pm notwithstanding the large presence of para-military and police personnel. Odisha is now serving as the pivot for the political subversion of India by the Maoists.

kIt was rather very intrepid of a Union minister to visit the worst Maoist-affected areas in Jharkhand (Latehar District) on a motorcycle during this period of heightened threat. Two months ago, the minister had visited Gadchiroli, a Maoist stronghold in Maharastra. His visit was answered by the Maoists three days later by way of a mineblast in which 12 CRPF personnel were killed. The minister had after all visited the area with the agenda of development!

And so did Vinil Krishna, the collector of Malkangiri, who was abducted by the Maoists in February 2011. It is another matter that consequent to his release he had no qualms in allowing himself to be garlanded like a war hero. He now serves as the private secretary to the Union minister. His appointment, if some press reports are to be believed, was recommended by “professional interlocutors”, who offer their services whenever there is a hostage crisis involving the Maoists.  The Congress party in Odisha had dubbed the abduction of Krishna as a ‘well-planned drama’ and had demanded a CBI probe. Where does the truth lie? I leave it for the readers to decide.

In February 2012, the Maoist leader Sabyasachi Panda confessed that it was the Maoists who indeed killed Odisha MLA Jagbandhu Majhi in September 2011 and Swami Laxmananda Saraswati in 2007. The killing of the latter was motivated by the religious discourse in Maoist terror that has pervaded Kandhamal district. It is intriguing, rather revealing, that the two Italians chose to travel to Kandhamal area ignoring the travel advisory of the Italian government and warnings by the Indian government.

One of the Italians, Paolo Bosusco, had visited the area several times before and enjoyed the hospitality of the Maoists. His being taken hostage was a staged drama to humble the Indian state. Paolo is a member of an Italy based Ultra-Leftist organisation, Party of Committees to Support Resistance for Communism (CARC). In December 2011, the Maoist Communist Party of Manipur in a press release had acknowledged its association and support of some foreign based ultra-leftist outfits. They are: Communist Party of Philippines, Association for Proletarian Solidarity, Italy (ASP), Maoist Communist Party of France, Revolutionary Communist Party Canada (PCR – RCP), and Party of the Committees to Support Resistance for Communism (CARC), Italy. Some of the western countries had played a very dubious role in fanning Left Wing Extremism (LWE) in Nepal to facilitate religious conversion. Kandhamal district of Odisha suffers from the same paradigm. Nepal’s example should not be lost out on India.

As far as military prowess of the Maoists goes, there is evidence of AK-47s being supplied by the United Wa Army in Myanmar. The AK-47 manufacturing facility has been provided by China to the said insurgent outfit. The Maoist-ISI-LeT-militant groups nexus in Kashmir and the North-East is fairly well established. The Chinese, according to a national television channel, have also begun to supply sophisticated signal equipment with encryption capabilities to the Maoists.

The war is on. In this war the adversary has a deadly cocktail of ideology, foreign support, religious agenda, armed cadres, criminal financing and terror. It would be anti-national to treat it as a law and order problem. The assault is now on Indian democracy and the unity of India. Let us unite and fight because now in question is the very air-of-freedom that we are breathing.

It’s very clear and it’s been very clear for many years. India must go to war against the maoists. I mean, use every military means at India’s disposal to crush the maoists — and not only in India, but in Nepal as well. The Congress Party lacks backbone, integrity and courage. It’s burnt-out. It’s up to Indians to put in power a true Kshatriya who has the will, the guts and the intelligence to do the job. It can be done. It must be done.

    • Another arm-chair general!

      Hi duartmaclean,
I don’t mean to offend all Indians as a whole, but here is what I noticed after observing what you guys comment on this website, especially on the topics related to Maoism . It seems that Indians are just like old ladies who have been abused for life, sensitive, gossiping, emotional, low self esteem, lack of confidence, full of self hatred, full of self pity, full of resentment, full of jealousy, full of ill-wish on other people, and at the same time, full of self-comforting, self-congratulating, self-boasting… Somebody got to study Indian’s psyche, must be worth a Ph.D. thesis. PDST syndrome?

      • Y

        Hi John
You have come in with the entire English dictionary to explain the Indian psyche. Chill ‘Bro’. Look at your affairs and leave us to our own. I know the heat is too much to bear without electricity in the whole of Maoism conspiracy but do not take it out on us.

        Hi John
Have you heard about Liberation theology???
We are better than you>>> not invented ideology like yours>>>”If JESUS CHRIST were on Earth today, he would be a Marxist revolutionary”…!!!like>>>
“If LORD KRISHNA were on Earth today, he would be a Marxist revolutionary”>>>………..we have not invented Hindu communism >>>>like
        yours Christian communism >>>>
        Btw……. .JUST SHAME ON YOU.

        HI John,
Like your ideology a deadly cocktail of communism and communal ism.
1200 maoist ( with sophisticated guns) hiding behind 800 villagers( with bow and arrow)…. killed top leader of congress party of Chattisgarh…….on dated 25/05/2013…..you are just hiding youself.

      • duartmaclean

@John, do you have any idea what happened to the moral, etc, of the indigenous peoples of north and south america after the europeans invaded and imposed their ways upon them? India is a similar situation to that, only it is slightly less obvious. Furthermore, there has been a well orchestrated effort on the part of European intellectuals, Christian proselytizers and colonizers to belittle, denigrate, as well as to lay claim to, much of the intellectual, cultural and spiritual genius of the indigenous peoples of south asia. Anti-life credos, such as Maoism, Communism and totalitarianism also want to impose their ‘values’ on India. Do you think that Indians should adapt themselves to western values or to the writings of Mao-Tse Tung and others of his ilk? Do you or me really have anything to offer India? Really? Indians, such as the ones who write in this blog, are fighting for their values, traditions, culture and their right to be who they are. Perhaps some of them need to learn to write in a more mature manner. But don’t blame them for their anger and frustration. By the way, no PhD thesis will ever even scratch the surface of what India really is and her role in the world. So you can forget about that suggestion.

This is nothing but new version of crusade , powered by Bush doctrine (just war theory against those who are against Christianization I.e. surrogate westernization) ,financed by church tax collected from western countries through China banks to acquire mineral rich area ,a long term investment by western countries . .

    • Y

      @Padmanabhan,well said.
Many Christian action group cadres have also been inducted into prominent naxalite groups under the garb of liberation theology activists. For instance Vernon Gonsalves @ Vikram, a state committee member of Maharashtra unit of CPI (Maoist) who was arrested by the ATS, Maharashtra, in August,2007 and another top Maoist leader Arun Ferreira, r/o Bandra, who was arrested by Nagpur police have both confessed to the police that they are activists of liberation theology movement. A number of human rights activists including Dr.Binayak Sen,Vice President of PUCL, have also been arrested in the recent past for their close links with the Maoist movement in the country confirming the close links between the Maoist movement and NGO and human rights net-work. Since the Christian action groups in the country are all controlled by various church agencies, many church leaders in India are also now directly linked with the naxalite movement.

So, when Sabyasachi Panda, a top Maoist leader of Orissa claims responsibility for the killing of VHP leader Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati and four others at his ashram in Kandhamal district on August 23,2008, it does not help to absolve the church activists from the charge of involvement in the crime. The naxalite movement in the country had enjoyed maximum mass support during the period from 1969 to 1974. However despite the dynamic leadership provided by leaders like Charu Majumdar and Sitaramaiyyah the support base of the naxalite movement was mostly confined to the three states of West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala.

By 1975, the naxal movement had started disintegrating and it is only because of its association with the action group movement since mid seventies that it was able to sustain itself.

Today, with the full support and all possible assistance from the networking NGOs and also with the systematic induction of a large number of NGO activists into major naxalite groups, the naxal movement in the country has now become very powerful and it continues to make inroads into more and more new areas, especially in the remote and tribal regions.

About 170 districts in 15 states in the country are now reportedly considered as naxal-infested. This unprecedented growth of naxalite movement in the country can be attributed to the support and encouragement it receives from the action group movement of networking NGOs which has got a strong and wide network all over the country. The irony of the situation is that the naxalite movement which proclaims to be the greatest crusader against the imperialist lobby is presently controlled by the action group movement which in turn is promoted, financed and controlled by the same imperialist lobby.

“This is nothing but new version of crusade ……”
The Crusades were in part a reaction to these events, as well as serving the ambitions of 11th-, 12th-, and 13th-century popes who sought to extend their political and religious power. Crusading armies were, in a sense, the military arm of papal policy.

Beyond all this, the Crusades coincided with a time of dramatic growth of European population and commercial activity. The Crusades provided an area of expansion to accommodate part of this growing population. They also offered an outlet for the ambitions of land-hungry knights and noblemen. At the same time, the expeditions offered rich commercial opportunities to the merchants of the growing cities of the West, particularly Genoa, Pisa, and Venice.

Crusading thus had a broad appeal to numerous Europeans. Some went on Crusades out of greed, some out of religious fervor; almost all Crusaders sought adventure, and many of them believed that their participation would virtually guarantee personal salvation. Every Crusader probably had different reasons for participation. The experiments of the papacy and European monarchs in raising money to finance the Crusades led to the development of systems of direct general taxation that had long-term consequences for the fiscal structure of European governments.

“Communism is a shame of our time.”

Christian communism is a form of religious communism based on Christianity. It is a theological and political theory based upon the view that the teachings of Jesus Christ compel Christians to support communism as the ideal social system.
For them “Jesus is an artifice of aggression”.

The Roman Catholic Church is a dying, outdated dinosaur. It’s almost dead in the traditionally Catholic province of Quebec, in Canada. In the U.S. approx. 20 million people have taken up the practice of yoga. Many don’t understand the true meaning of yoga, but their embracing of it is an important start. The Vedic insight of non-duality, which is absolutely consistent with the discoveries of quantum physics, will replace the dualism of the three major monotheistic religions: Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Literally, it’s God’s Will. Nama Shivaya.

Were I a Catholic, I would be asking myself what in the world gives these people the right to appoint themselves God’s representatives here on Earth, and tell me that unless I paid them money, they would separate me from my God. But then, apart from those that brought this case to the court, religious people of all manner seem by-and-large incapable of this kind of rational thought, or at least they make out so.

Leaving aside the whole topic of the Secular State, officials of the Catholic church in Germany should hang their heads in shame.

            • @Y
While you invite Sister Daksha to embrace Hinduism, have you decided on the caste compartment you are going to put her in. You should also advise her on whether to follow Advaita or Charbak, to be a Vaishnavite or a Shaivite. I can go on and on but I think you get the drift.

              • Indian Realist

The idea is to get her out of the clutches of monotheistic fundamentalism (to which it seems you are a subscriber). Hinduism is not about caste at all or different sects — the modern caste system is a creation of the British. Hinduism is about giving people spiritual freedoms to think about God for themselves and not say “our god is true, your god is false”. Only a bigoted brain can make fantastic claims of superiority and then refuse to back them with a shred of evidence.

                • @Indian Realist
The idea is to get her out of the clutches of monotheistic fundamentalism (to which it seems you are a subscriber).

Please don’t waste your time in ‘seeming’, ‘cause often ‘it is’ not, what ‘it’ seems.

Hinduism is not about caste at all or different sects

Agreed. But question arises which strand of Hinduism one follows.
Firstly Hinduism is a term as vague as say, Agriculturism or Musicism, if we are allowed to coin such a term. By an “ism” it is generally meant a unified theory or a code more or less based on spiritual or religious or a social or economic system. There is no unified compact definition of Hinduism. Fact is majority of people who profess Hinduism practice caste system, covert or overt. And that is what counts on the ground, not chest thumping in blogosphere.

                  — the modern caste system is a creation of the British.

Really? Lets turn a few pages in history. The first non-Indian reference to it comes from Megasthenes in the 3rd century BCE. Fa Xian, a Buddhist pilgrim from China, who visited India around 400 AD. found ‘Chandals’ among us, who used to dispose corpses and still engaged in manual cleaning of human etcetera. And all Rambhakts know Valmiki as one of them who allegedly wrote Ramayana. Going further back we find caste (Varna) in both Manusmriti and Bhagbat Gita. And while on it, the first British ship sailed for India in 1628.

“Hinduism is about giving people spiritual freedoms to think about God for themselves..”

That’s great. I am with you on this one. But are you prepared to give the same spiritual freedom to Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Sikhs, Atheists etc. to think about God for themselves?

Only a bigoted brain can make fantastic claims of superiority and then refuse to back them with a shred of evidence.

Couldn’t agree more. I see them everyday.

              • Indian Realist

At least, caste people are not burning each other alive on the stake, accusing them of heresy, or beating scientists for saying that earth goes around the sun.

                • Really? You haven’t read the ancient Hindu scriptures, that much is evident, but what surprises me is that you don’t even read news papers or watch news on TV. If you did you would have known that Harijans are still burned alive or gunned down by upper caste landlords or their henchmen on dispute ranging from land to inter caste marriae. You would have known about ‘honour killing’ for marrying in same gotras. You would have known about vandalising gift shops for selling valentine day cards.
You would have known about chasing and physically abusing young couples in public and invading private houses for having a party. And all this in the land of Ajanta and Illora and Khajuraho and Kamasutra.
Sorry forgot to mention about the female foeticide.

                  • Indian Realist

Dude, you are indirectly claiming that Hinduism is to blame for all social ills in India. This is nonsense as none of these social evils existed in pre-Muslim era. There is no God in Hinduism that talks about caste system or dowry or female infanticide (a practice that arose due to Muslim thugs plundering Indian women). In contrast, the Bible’s God explicitly talks about the treatment of slaves. However, I have never heard you claim that slavery is a central feature of the Christian faith because of the Bible verses supporting slavery. Why these double standards?

Anyway, the idea is to wean humanity away from the “true God, false God” ideological indoctrination that teaches men to hate the rest of humanity. Or do you think that is a sin too?

                    • duartmaclean

Indian Realist is correct. What people do tells us whether they are a true Hindu or not. Just to be born into a Hindu family doesn’t mean that much. Just as Jesus was non-violent, nevertheless, his ‘followers’ have committed much violence in his name.

                    • I am not blaming Hinduism (whatever it means). I am blaming those Hindus who are nothing but flag bearers of so called Hinduism.
There is no such thing as Hinduism. Its a term coined by successive foreign invaders or visitors because of their lack of comprehension, understandably so, of anciet scriptures of the land. And illiterate Hindus
lapped it up without even realising that they are trading a vast body of philosphical discourse in exchange of a work-shop manual.
Hinduism is a much abused term, abused by its friends and foes alike.

Good Nitha. India today is in a situation similar to Arjuna thousands of years ago. His kingdom was threatened to be removed from his leadership as the rightful king, and by his own relatives! So it is with India today. The Maoists, the Chinese (probably), the Communists, the Christian evangelists, etc., want to take India away from its rightful place in the world and in history. The materialists who run the CP and Indian media want to turn India into a gaming house for their own greed and lust. These men are manipulators, cowards and cheats. They hurt and crush the dispossessed and the dispossessed become violent (out of fear and frustration). It is up to Indians of good conscience, courage and commitment to stand for this great nation — the oldest in the world and the richest — not in material terms — but in Spirit. India must never lose its Spirit. The world needs the original Spirit of India. Many Indians have forgotten this.

    • duartmaclean

The correct name for ‘Hinduism’ is Sanatana Dharma (The Eternal Law or Way). Sanatana Dharma is not a religion. All religions have a specific ‘founder’. There is no specific founder of Sanatana Dharma. The enemies of India have been working to replace Sanatana Dharma with their particular one-dimensional belief systems, particularly Christianity, Islam, Communism and Capitalism. None of those belief systems are even close to representing the fundamental values and ontology of Sanatana Dharma. The result is much confusion and wrong mixing of ideas.

Christian communism is a form of religious communism based on Christianity. It is a theological and political theory based upon the view that the teachings of Jesus Christ compel Christians to support communism as the ideal social system. Although there is no universal agreement on the exact date when Christian communism was founded, many Christian communists assert that evidence from the Bible suggests that the first Christians, including the Apostles, established their own small communist society in the years following Jesus’ death and resurrection. As such, many advocates of Christian communism argue that it was taught by Jesus and practiced by the Apostles themselves.

Christian communism can be seen as a radical form of Christian socialism. Christian communists may or may not agree with various parts of Marxism. They generally do not agree with the antireligious views held by secular Marxists, but do agree with many of the economic and existential aspects of Marxist theory, such as the idea that capitalism exploits the working class by extracting surplus value from the workers in the form of profits and that wage-labor is a tool of human alienation that promotes arbitrary and unjust authority. Christian communism, like Marxism, also holds that capitalism encourages the negative aspects of human nature, supplanting values such as mercy, kindness, justice and compassion in favor of greed, selfishness and blind ambition.

Christian communists also share some of the political goals of Marxists, for example replacing capitalism with socialism, which should in turn be followed by communism at a later point in the future. However, Christian communists sometimes disagree with Marxists (and particularly with Leninists) on the way a socialist or communist society should be organized. In general, Christian communism evolved independently of Marxism, and most Christian communists share the conclusions but not the underlying premises of Marxist communists.

  6. Truth Will Prevail

Maoists claim that they don’t believe in God so they are atheists? I’ve seen atheists claiming to be peaceful. If atheists were peaceful then how come the communist atheists killed many in the past? No proof to say atheism means peace. These people are oppurtunists. Communism and Capitalism are the two sides of the same coin. When both of it it goes towards the extreme will create blind people who don’t care about life or environment.
