What Is the Koran?

In Yemen, while restoring an ancient mosque, labourers found a “gravesite” of very old parchments carrying the words of Koran. The scholars read these to discover that Koran, far from being the immutable word of God, seemed like an evolving text, actively being edited and changed over the centuries. If this is true, then the entire struggle of Muslims over the last 1400 years becomes meaningless. Mohammad was illiterate. Does anyone even know who actually wrote the Koran after him?

What Is the Koran?
Researchers with a variety of academic and theological interests are proposing controversial theories about the Koran and Islamic history, and are striving to reinterpret Islam for the modern world. This is, as one scholar puts it, a “sensitive business”

Same with this guy – Do you really think it all began with a sanctimonious Jewish wonder-worker, strolling about 1st century Palestine?

Pl read “Wahi – The supernatural basis of Islam”. The Koran was the concoction of Mohammmad to motivate his followers (with all those rewards in the heaven and cruel punishments in the hell, etc). The Allah described in the Koran resembles more like a Mafia Don than some Most Merciful Creator. Such an entity wants to make Kafir Tandoor with more than 80% of the world’s population!!
