Another “Dalit” turns out to be a Christian

Vatican stooge K G Balakrishnan Exposed by Kerala SC – ST federation
31/12/2010 10:22:08  HK

Kochi: Kerala SC – ST federation  Advocate K V Kumaran, revealed explosive information about former Chief Justice of India K G Balakrishnan and his family. As revealed K G Balakrishnan is a Crypto Christian planted by Vatican as part of their global evangelisation agenda.

K G Balakrishnan’s daughter and son in law Sri Nijan was sponsored by World Council of Church to complete higher education in law in London. World Council of Church is a Vatican sponsored organisation with an annual budget of  145 Billion dollar and their aim is global evangelisation.

K G Balakrishnan’s father was one Mr Lookose who changed his name as Gopinathan to usurp the benefits of SC-ST Hindus. He later got retired in a high post from Kerala High court.

K G Balakrishnan was a pawn planted by Vatican to take favourable verdict for converted Christians in a case registered in 2004 with case number 180. Once get a favourable verdict converted Christians can get all benefits granted by Constitution to SC-ST Hindus. By this Vatican can intensify their conversion agenda. The forces who stand for Ranganatha Mishra report is also sponsored by Vatican and aims to bring constitution amendment to extend reservations to converted Christians.

A Memorandum was submitted by Kerala SC-ST Federation in 2006 to Indian President and copy of it were given to Prime Minister and CBI Director with full evidences that K G Balakrishnan is a Crypto christian who grabbed the benefits of genuine SC-ST Hindus.

Sri Nijan who is now exposed by Asianet was a Congres candidate in Njarrakkal in a SC-ST reserved seat. Sri Nijan is a practicing Christian who even openly went to worship in Church even on poll day making mockery of law of land. These fake name sake Hindus should be exposed and is doing more harm to SC- ST Hindus.

K G Balakrishnan was made High Court judge with special recruitment by former president K R Narayanan. K G Balakrishnan’s brother another Crypto Christian Advocate K G Bhaskaran was earlier suspended from practice for taking bribe when his wife was Magistrate.Later this suspension was revoked following the interference of K G Balakrishnan. This tainted Advocate K G Bhaskaran was made Government pleader by Achuthanandan Government in Kerala. The complete silence of CPM over this KGB episode owe to their links with this tainted family.

Kerala SC-ST federation Executive Member C C Gangadharan was also present during the press meet called by advocate K V Kumaran.

Ever wondered why the parochial KR Narayanan rooted for KGB’s elevation first as HC Judge and then an SC Judge, even returning the recommendations of the SC colegium unless this KGB was included?

And then, why this KGB as the CJI ensured that most, if not all, cases pertaining to Mayawati were heard in HIS court rather than anywhere else?

hmmmm. … there’s more to it than meets the eye.

    • Kerala christians invited Vasco de Gama to attack Kerala, says Portugese documents. After the Portuguese settlement, hundreds of temples in and around the Portuguese-held territories were demolished, often to be replaced with Catholic churches. Saint Francis Xavier described with glee the joy he felt when he saw the Hindu idols smashed and temples demolished. Most sixteenth and seventeenth century churches in India contain the rubble of demolished Hindu temples. Chennai was used to create the fake encounter killing of St Thomas using a knife wielding Brahmin. Thomas mount now sells sacred sand by kilos to christians. In 1561 christians destroyed the Kapaleeswara temple and constructed the St. Thomas church over it. Hindus had to collect all the destroyed stones and construct the same Kapaleeswara temple in Mylapore some 250 years later. There was a temple called ‘Velar Kanniamman temple’ in Nagapattinam in Tamil Nadu. This was destroyed by the Kerala christians and a church was constructed over it and the Christians called it Velankanni church. To confuse Hindus, they now call it Velankanni shrine. Attempts were made to turn the Vivekananda Rock Memorial at Kanyakumari into a Virgin Mary shrine. Christians also created a touching the Ayyappa idol story by a Kannada actress married to a christian. Christianity started in AD 325 and Bible was written by an editor called Eusibius employed by King Constantine and is based in lies and violence. As per a BBC documentary the fake Bible had some 62 authors. Hindus should wake up to the dangers of Christianity, Islam, congress and muslim league.

Internal enemy is worst. 26 /11 and 09 /11 not possible with out internal support to enemy Its time hindus should wake up they need leaders like Dr swamy who Tilak about national building we should take lesson from Tilak and Shivaji.

basically speaking dalits are not hindus and they are vast outside the 4 castes.they are’ panchamas’.in make.but after 1950 the executive order of then president was a really a turning point in the history of dalits.,the jargon of hindu or christian or muslim dalits are really a hidden agenda against dalits.the divide and rule policy is running to divide them. The DNA OR ANY basic parameter of life of of dalit xians or muslims or hindus are basically the same only the planted religions differ. The same hindu counterparts or bretheren are under the loom of hinduvata mistaking that they belong to hindufold.Be very patient in thinking and moot that all these people are of one catse, then why these cases.in the case of xian and hindu scheduled tribe,eg.malayarayans of kerala resevations exist for both xian and hindu malayarayans.why these difference??,,,,…all these are because if they r united and one no politicians or religious people can’t fool them…..think..all dalits and their leaders…..jacob joseph.kerala

There were no dalits before the British came. It is an artificial category created by the Brits.

      • I have many syrican Christian friends and I used to wonder why they are black and short and looks like AK Anthony. Later I found that the Syrian story is a fake one and made up to get social approval. There is no need for it. Incidently the Syrian Christians used to eat rats and used to bury the bishops vertically, a custom that is followed by the Parayas. The book ‘Native life of Travancore’ by Rev. Samuel Mateer F L S shows that the Kerala Syrian christians are christian converts of the untouchable Hindu Paraya community of Kerala. There was this British priest Samuel Mateer, who lived in Kerala which was published in 1883 in London called the Native Life in Travancore, 450p, ISBN 8120605144.. This book is available at the Chennai library. The book has a chapter called Syrian Christians from page 158. Rev. Samuel Mateer says that the Paraya converts are called Syrian Christians in Kerala. He found that none of the converts known as Kerala Syrian christians have heard of Jesus Christ and does not know why a cross was being worshiped. Kotarakara Syrian church doorway was sketched in his book and it shows a cock engraved along with the cross and armed figures. Customs of Hindu Paraya community was seen all around. Boys at 10 years, and girls at 7 years marry and the couple can enter the house only after ‘nellum niram’ and with the lamp in the hand of the girl. Women make ‘kurava’ a shrill cry during this time. Fasting for the dead and offerings to Hindu Gods are seen. Kerala christians invited Vasco de Gama to attack Kerala, says Portugese documents. After the Portuguese settlement, hundreds of temples in and around the Portuguese-held territories were demolished, often to be replaced with Catholic churches. Saint Francis Xavier described with glee the joy he felt when he saw the Hindu idols smashed and temples demolished. _____________
New Delhi: The Kerala High Court on Monday disqualified five-time Lok Sabha MP Kodikunnil Suresh for allegedly producing a fake caste certificate.Congress leader Suresh, who represents the Mavelikkara constituency reserved for Scheduled Castes, is a Cheramar Christian but he allegedly gave a certificate showing him as a Cheramar Hindu, which is a scheduled caste.

Suresh’s opponent in the last Lok Sabha elections told the court the MP was a Christian according to his school-leaving certificate.

Justice G Shashidharan Nambiar, in a 160-page judgment, ruled that Suresh had made conflicting statements about his caste and his nomination should have been rejected on the ground that he is not a member of scheduled caste and hence was not entitled to contest from Mavelikkara. Suresh can appeal against the court order.

Suresh was first elected to Lok Sabha in 1989, then in 1991, 1996 and 1999 from the Adoor constituency. He was defeated in 1998 and 2004 elections.

Caste Hindus Immigration to the Christian West and Dalit Conversion to Christianity is the Same.

Caste Hindus adore the west for the better lifestyle and often immigrate to predominantly Christian countries such as: the UK, Canada, and the USA. I don’t blame them for dumping India for the “Christian” west, where the sky is the limit.
The poor Hindus have no means to get out of caste India, and turn to religious conversion for a better life. In fact caste Hindu migration to the west and Dalit conversion to Christianity is the same.
The caste Hindus and Dalits are Indians—they must coexist as human beings. There is no Hindu India, Muslim India, or Christian India, only mother India. Christianity never advocates violence or hate against their neighbors; it is a religion of love and peace. How many Hindus are willing to abandon the lives they enjoy in the west for India to save Hinduism and the holy cow?
Dalit hope was rekindled when they left Hinduism behind and ended when they were forced to reconvert to Hinduism. India’s divine caste system is deadlier than the dead apartheid. Hinduism has nothing to offer to poor Dalits other than religiously justified inferiority and subhuman treatment.
“Jesus the Dalit.” Will any Hindus say “Krishna the Dalit?” There is no high and low in the eyes of God; all are children of God.
The religious fundamentalists are nothing but agents of Hitler and hate mongers who can only create a situation worse than that of Rwanda or Darfur. They are the number one enemies of secular India.
The Sangh Parivar profit from selling beef sandwiches in the west. Why is it that a cow is holy in India and not in the west? The Sangh Parivar is nothing but the reincarnation of the Taliban, which is suffering from constipation of the Aryan nation. India must be cautious of these evil forces. Indians must unite and stand up for a secular India—a India in which freedom of religion has value. A secular India can become a world superpower; the Hindu fundamentalist vision of India can only lead to violence and disintegration. Freedom of religion is our birthright; it is the right of Dalits to decide their religious faith and destiny. The divisive forces who are preaching hatred and religious intolerance need to be stopped for the sake of unity and prosperity of mother India.
The Dalit people prefer to live and die as human beings rather than going back to the Stone Age and living under the cloak of untouchability.
The evangelical Christians must stop sending professional missionaries to India under tourist visas. This is nothing but a breach of faith. Professional missionaries are only adding more fuel to the flames of the ongoing violence. Please remember Jesus never camouflaged himself or lied to preach the gospel. The need of the hour is freedom of religion not western charity.
I call upon the minorities of India, the Sikhs, Buddhists, Muslims, Christians, Jews and Dalits—we must unite and stand up, to promote liberty, justice and equality for all Indians not just high caste Hindus. We must fight the evil caste system and fundamentalist groups promoting intolerance.

Raju charles, there is no fun in the Christian and Hindu heaven. A few Apsaras in the Hindu Heaven are meant for the entertainment of the Gods and for spying (like seducing some Rishis).

Why we should not strive for an entry into the fun-filled Islamic Paradise stocked with abundant supply of wine, women, water, fruits, etc?

  9. JGN

Raju Charles , then why did you run away to Amrika instead of staying back in India and uplifting other “dalits”?? Oh, yes, I forgot, you are only after the left overs (green bucks) thrown at you by the Missionary beggars!!

Equaltiy in Islam and Christianity are just myths. Had it been the case, there would not have been a single “dalit” in UP and surrounding areas and in Kerala where the Missionaries were very active.

What has been done by the Islamic Invaders and European Christian Colonizers for the “dalits” when they ruled major parts of Indian subcontinent (including present day Pakistan and Bengladesh) for nearly 900 years? Why are you shedding corcodile tears for the “dalits” now? Seems dalits are “easy meat” for the Missionary beggars.

The lower castes in Kerala are leading a respectable life today due to the tireless efforts of leaders/social reformers like EMS, AKG, Krishna Pillai, EK Nayanar, K.Kelappan, SahodaranAyyappan, Ayyankali, Sree NarayanaGuru, etc etc all belonging to the Upper Castes/Intermediate Castes. We have been with them and will remain with them. We do not have any ulterior motive like “Harvesting their Souls”.

So pl protect your rear end from KKK instead of worrying about the “dalits” in India. All the best.

    • Raju charles

      Dear Editor,

Thank you for publishing my comments!

My ancestors prayed at the Sree Padmnabha Swami Temple at Trivandrum. My parents were Christians and so am I. We want freedom of religion not freedom from Hinduism!

There is no point of accusing one another. We must unite and stand up for human rights and social justice. It is better to have food in every home rather than fighting over religion. The VHP boards proclaim cleaning side roads in America. Why don’t we clean the roads and blocked drainage in front of the temples in India? Why not provide some rice soup as lunch for the poor in every temple? I would be happy to support even If It is by RSS.

I studied Hinduism, it is one of the greatest religions of the world—all life is important.

The SC and ST forum with crab mentality will not help, “If I can’t have It neither should you.” This evil mentality will not save Hindu Dalits. Mr. KGB Is Innocent until proven guilty, he became Chief Justice because of his brain power and ability to over come obstacles in life, well reservations helped him to a certain extent. Every life has equal potential to succeed in world.

Chief justice KG Balakrishnan got help from chief minister K Karunakaran, dragging President KR. Narayanan to the controversy is not fair. Mr. K Karunakaran has done more help to the poor in Kerala through special order. He followed Sree Krishna and practiced true Hinduism. He will be remembered for opening the Guruvayoor Temple for the Dalits to worship, where the EMS failed. I admire Sree Narayana Guru for liberating his people and leading them to a better life. What shocks me is the reverse discrimination by his people. I stand for equal opportunity for all; I strongly believe that reservation must be based on economic conditions rather than caste and religion.

What does religion have to do with education? The right to freedom of religion is a fundamental right as per article 25 of the Indian constitution. My dad was educated with the help of missionaries from the Church of England. Calling them beggars makes me sad, has any one seen any white man begging in the third world? The VHP receive more money from the west than the Christians, none can deny this fact. I see lots of Hindu priests in the west, especially In Canada, UK, and USA. It is nice to seeing their traditional outfit; it makes me feel like Hindustan is alive.

Show some compassion to fellow Hindus, just as Sree Krishna blessed the poor Kuchelan!

It is high time for Indians to move on. Look at China and Pakistan; we can learn a lot from these countries. USA welcomes all faith, multiculturalism only strengthens the West!

Salvation is a gift of GOD! There will be more Hindus in heaven than Christians.

Our God is an awesome God! He is the creator, sustainer and redeemer. God knows us all by name! Caste is evil, caste Christians are bound to go to hell .The devil will welcome them to eternal flames.

Please don’t fight over religion, It is a disgrace to any nation for its citizens to convert and reconvert for a better life. India is a growing economic power, a stable nation with law and
order. We all can be a blessing to others. Stop hurting the motherland and lend a hand for economic development.

Please don’t talk to me about lower caste Dalits leading respectable lives because of upper caste mercy. It is a disgrace to proclaim Sree Narayana Guru as high caste, this nothing but sin! It is a shame to see two villages within a village, separated into so called high and low!

You don’t need to hate others to promote your goal; all religions teach
      peace and happiness toward fellowman.

      Hypocrisy and double standard!
Money talks and dead men walk!

In Kerala the orthodox Christians can build churches and crosses as they please, Muslims can build mosques, but not the native Dalits Christians. Let us be fair to all. My family tried to build a church in Kovalam, not in the beach, but permission was denied. Why hurt the poor and yield to the mighty. Christians make up of 2.3% of India’s billion-plus population, majority of them are Dalits. Nobody can question Christian loyalty to motherland. Can India count on Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Burma and Sri Lanka in a war with China? India needs Christians, do justice to all, please ensure that Christians get equal opportunity just as Hindus and Sikhs. Christian rights are human rights!

In US, the people and the country come first, all are Americans!
      Wake up India!

Why not help the Hindus of Pakistan to immigrate to Kashmir? Look at the Jews! Fight the special status given to Kashmir; invite the displaced
Sree Lankan Tamil to settle down in Kashmir. Kerala to Kashmir is India! Dare to be a Hindustani. Let us fight for liberty and justice for all.

Calling names and personal attacks are not fair in a repsectable forum! The Kashmir liberation front called me worse than this, because I crashed there anti-Indian town hall meeting at the American University. I am in USA because of my children but my heart beats for India! Stand up for civil rights and social justice!

      Rotti, kapde, aur makkan!

We all can unite and make a difference!

      Have a nice day!
      Raju Charles

Raju charles, a neutralized Italian Christian lady is the Super PM of India. Then what makes you feel that the Hindus hate all Christians? A.K.Anthony and Oomen Chandy were the CMs of Kerala so also the late C.H.Mohammed Koya. Is that not proof enough for you to understand that majority of Hindus do not care for Religions? The problem is not with individual Christians or Muslims but with the ideology of their religion.

What exactly is the purpose of the conversion business? If some one wants to help others, why not help them without the ulterior motive of “harvesting their souls”?

Sree Narayana Guru had the courage of conviction; when some Brahmins objected to him consecrating a Shiva Idol, he told them that he had consecrated an Ezhava Shiva. At another temple he placed a Mirror in the Sanctum Sanctorem instead of any id0l. Sree Narayana Guru’s Oru Jati, Oru Matam, Oru Deivam (One Caste, One Religion and One God) has come to mean One Caste – Ezhava, One Religion – Hinduism and One God – Sree Narayana for his followers!! He was totally opposed to consumption of alcoloh but his followers are the biggest Abkari Contractors in Kerala.

Mr JGN, why are you writing in English .You should go to Hindi School under swami ji.If you are true Hindu, you must read & write in Hindi only.
Initially all upper caste Hindu converted to Chritainity & Muslim and enjoyed the fruits of ruling class.Everywhere these Hindu goes, they polluted the society on name of caste & creed.live example is division of Hindu in England,USA

      • JGN

Mr. Moti Kr Gupta, and what were Baniyas like you doing? Who on earth has told you that Hindi is the patented property of the Hindus in India? India is a continent sized country with more than 1600 languages. Hindi is just one of them, though a large number of people speak the same. For you kind info, I am a multi-linguist who can speak half a dozen languages, including Hindi.

      • agnostic Yupp!!!

Fool! Hindi is not the language of hindus. It is the language of moslems. True language of hindus is Sanskrit and dravidian languages. MESSAGE FROM RAJASTHAN.

  12. The present tragedy Sabarimala seems to be a conspiracy to damage the Left parties’ prospects to get elected in the coming election. The accident is very strange and appears to have caused by a jeep that was pushed to start as its self start failed. The jeep appears to ran over one pilgrim and caused some scuffle. This appears to have caused a stampede, which is difficult to accept. There was a chain that tied across the road that blocks any jeep travel along the forest road that is normally left open by December 10, was not opened. It looks like the moving mass of pilgrims started falling after hitting the chain across the road. The forest area was not lit. Christian Congress of Sonia Gandhi can corner votes only if the Left government is discredited. There were earlier attempt to discredit the pilgrimage to Sabarimala by the christians. All said and done, there was hardly any proper arrangement in an area where pilgrims are routinely gathered to watch the Makara Vilakku.

Efforts to destroy the Sabarimala temple were started in 1950 by Kerala christians. The temple was set on fire by Christians to scare away the devotees. The Christian lobby is involved in poaching of trees and ganja cultivation in forest areas. When thousands started visiting the Sabarimala temple in the forest, their income dwindled and they set the temple on fire. Between 1950 and 1955 there were three attempts to destroy the temple and several attacks on pilgrims. In the eighties a communal Christian minister and the church brigade tried to construct a church near Nilakkal. In 1983 church brigade attempted to plant a Cross in Nilakkal in Ayyappa’s garden. There was a conspiracy to build Pampa Valley Dam in Poonkavanam area which would have submerged the Sabarimala temple. Forest land requested for Sabarimala development was not given. To stop pilgrimage to Sabarimala christians have started a vicious campaign against Sabarimala pilgrimage by christians for the last sixty years.

Systematic efforts were made to denigrate Ayyappa and destroy Sabarimala. Aravana payasam is the Prasadam at Sabarimala temple. There were many attempts to put dead lizard in the Aravana payasam by the christians. Last decade saw the rise of muslim terrorists and Mahdanis and they too tried to sabotage the Hindu pilgrimage. Pimps, prostitutes and christian media and professional gangsters, police etc were used of late in an international conspiracy to damage the reputation of the Sabarimala chief priest. Christians tried to defame Sabarimala and the devotees and the christian media planted fabricated stories to harvest Hindus for christian conversion. In spite of all these the temple is attracting large number of devotees, sometimes even from among the ordinary christians and muslims.

A little history is not out of place as the killing of pilgrims may not be a simple case of stampede but could be the result of a conspiracy by the most dangerous minority community in India that kill more Hindus in NE than by the muslim terrorists. Lower caste Tamils were en masse being converted to Christianity using hawala money. The Sabarimala pilgrimage halted this en masse conversion by the Kerala christian family oriented missionaries. In the 1950s, before the pilgrimage became popular, Kerala Christians actually set fire to the temple. Then there was the attempt to manufacture a historical Christian presence at Nilakkal, on the route of the pilgrimage using a fake 2000 year old wooden cross, supposed to have installed by Saint Thomas, but this cross was unearthed intact. Kerala antique dealers could have made this new cross really old the way they sell fake antique immersed in acid and other method, but that technique was not available for the christian mafia of Kerala.

A 2000 year old wood will not survive burial in Kerala’s humid earth and the racket was exposed. The nazi pope said that Thomas never came to India and never killed by a knife wielding Brahmin in M Karunanidhi’s Chennai, but died in Ortona, Italy, as certified by the Vatican. This also exposed the so called Syrian christian theory created in Chennai, that the Kerala christians are Brahmin converts and the conversion was done by Thomas. A historical reference book by a priest M L Mateer who lived decades in Kerala published in 1883 clearly established that the Syrian christians of Kerala are Pulaya converts like the retired Chief Justice KG Balakrishnan and his father. KG Balakrishnan’s father was a Pulaya Syrian christian called Lookose, but changed the name to Gopinath to get reservation benefits of Hindu ST/SC. All Syrian christians look like AK Anthony or KG Balakrishnan. Look at the features of both of them have lot of similarities. Reference web pages bit.ly/16qK6t, bit.ly/y372D, scr.bi/b26ikK, bit.ly/dy88Ou, bit.ly/buUX4h, scr.bi/9ykqkw, scr.bi/d82ARV, bit.ly/eV6F7V, bit.ly/gLEIdy,

Kerala christians invited Vasco de Gama to attack Kerala, says Portugese documents. Chennai was used to create the fake encounter killing of St Thomas using a knife wielding Brahmin. Thomas mount now sells sacred sand by kilos to christians. Kerala christians converted Velar Kanniamman temple to Velankanni Church, destroyed the Kapaleeswra temple and constructed the Santome church over it. Christianity started in AD 325 and Bible was written by an editor called Eusibius employed by King Constantine and is based in lies and violence. Like Tehelka funded by Sunny Varkey, a Kerala christian in Dubai to discredit BJP and defense using prostitutes, christians tried to discredit Sabarimala priest. A sex racket story was created by abducting the priest using a Dawood man, a christian prostitute with Sunny Varkey funding, who in turn was given Padmashri by Sonia Gandhi for his services. Christians also created a touching the Ayyappa idol story by a Kannada actress married to a christian.

Pilgrims have to take a dip in the Pampa river. But the river is highly polluted and the Rs.320 crore Sabarimala Pamba Action Plan under the National River Conservation Programme (NRCP) is yet to be completed. The Travancore Devasom Board (TDB) controls the functioning of all temples in south Kerala including Sabarimala. Government control of Hindu temples means looting by corrupt politicians from all parties and the atheist government staff. This is vividly seen at Tirupati. The late christian Y Samuel Rajasekhara Reddy put his christian half brother as TTD chairman and used the TTD funds to carryout sports activities in the name of his christian parents. Sonia has put a liquor dealer MP, as the chairman of TTD as he voted and saved the UPA government in the parliament. His relatives were seen using the temple rooms at the Tirupati temple at Himayat Nagar,Hyderbad for drink parties and immoral activities. The curse of Tirupati is said to have caused the death of christian YSR.

US Congress holds hearing on India’s Dalits

    WASHINGTON, Oct 7, 2008

: The US Congress held an unprecedented hearing on Thursday on India’s Dalits, once known as the ‘untouchables’, describing it as a key human rights issue.

“To keep nearly a quarter of one’s population in sub-human status is not only a grotesque violation of human rights, but it is a formula for economic and political stagnation as well,” said Republican New Jersey Representative Christopher Smith, who chaired the one-day hearing. He said that as the United States sought to develop a strategic partnership with India, including civilian nuclear cooperation, ‘we must not lose sight of India’s serious human rights problems’.

Some 350 million of India’s estimated population of a billion people are Dalits, occupying the bottom rung in Hinduism’s 2,500-year-old caste system, and the hearing was told that they faced discrimination, abuse, torture and even death because of the family into which they were born.

The Indian government “condones, ignores and in some instances, has even promoted … massive catalogues of human rights violations,” said Smith, who heads a House of Representatives human rights panel that organized the hearing. “All too often, enforcement of laws protecting human rights has been weak or non-existent,” he said.

While most Dalits lived in extreme poverty, Smith said, Hindu extremists resented gains made by this oppressed group which benefited from education and medical programs launched by Christian missionaries. “Converts to Christianity and Christian missionaries are particularly targeted, as violence against Christians often goes unpunished,” Smith said, adding that many states had adopted anti-conversion laws in violation of India’s constitutional protection for religious freedom.

This is the 3rd time Congress has held a hearing on the plight of the Dalits, said Nanci Ricks, the executive director of the Colorado-based Dalit Freedom Network, among groups which helped organize the event.

Congressional sources said Christian groups had lobbied Republican legislators to hold the hearing, entitled “India’s Unfinished Agenda: Equality and Justice for Victims of Caste System.”

Asked to comment on the event, a spokesman for the Indian embassy in Washington said New Delhi had taken various steps, including making provisions in the country’s charter, to help the Dalits. “As a vibrant democracy, India has in place constitutional safeguards as well as an active affirmative action program to address the problems of the weaker sections of society, including the Dalits,” spokesman Venu Rajamony said.

“These efforts are continuing and their positive results are visible to all,” he said.

Amnesty International’s Asia advocacy director T. Kumar told the hearing that the Indian government should fully enforce laws against discrimination on the basis of caste and descent, and rein in groups, including the police, which he said had discriminated against Dalits. “This culture of impunity must end. Until India’s ‘hidden apartheid’ is truly and completely abolished, the world’s largest democracy cannot hope to make truly substantive progress towards liberty for all,” he said. —AFP

Mr Charles has ovelooked the sex abuse cases in the church. This has been world wide. Just see the number of countries and cases in the wiki site quoted above.

Why not hold a commission of inquiry on this? This was discusssed in the media widely, but there has been no action by govts and by international autonomous bodies. What would you call the victims as no justice has been done for them. Probably ” Dolittles”

  15. JGN

Raju charles , why don’t you ask the US Congress to accept 350 million “dalits” in India and provide them all facilities the Yankees are enjoying? That would be a wonderful idea instead of shedding crocodile tears for them. Pl try and let us know the outcome.

  16. Raju charles

    Hi,
Have a little respect for all!
According to the Hindu Foundation of USA, there are 2 million Hindus are in USA. They are the second most affluent people after Jews. 43% of American Hindus make over $100,000 per year.
The Indian Realist must focus on religious freedom and equality rather than spreding hatredness and violence against minorities. The Hindu fundamentalists are pushing the Indian Dalits to Muslim Brotherhood. This will destabilize mother India!
This forum can bring unity and intergrity in India. Hindu-Dalit unity will make India a better place to live.
I know US Congressman Smith, he’ be happy to help any Indian to make to America.
Dalits migration to USA is as easy as 1,2,3. The better question is: can you find one Hindu willing to leave USA to return to India?
Please don’t use religion for political gain and power. Delivering hate speeches and writing inflammatory articles will not help India or save Hinduism.
    Have a great day!
    RC

“The Indian Realist must focus on religious freedom and equality ”
Do Christians recognise the right of pagans to worship their own gods? Does church believe in religious freedom and equality? Maybe you are preaching tolerance to the wrong people.

      • VoP

Exactly. Christianity and Islam practice racism when it comes to reaching Heaven; it’s Racist to exclude practitioners of other beliefs from reaching Heaven just beacuse they don’t pray to a peadophile or a dead arab on a stick! No?

    • VoP

      > Delivering hate speeches

“Christ is the path to heaven, else you are condemned to go to Hell”

I haven’t seen anything more hateful than that! And this is spoken in millions of churches every sunday around the world, imagine that global hatred!

  17. JGN

Raju charles, forget about “dalit migration” to Amrika; they will not give even a Visitor’s Visa to any one who fails to meet their requirements. The Yankees are not doing any favour to the Indians by empoying a few thousand people (whether Hindus, Christians, Muslims or any other community). They are employing them only because they need skilled manpower. Thomas Friedman had written in his book, The World is Flat, that US benefited from the cheap but quality education in India. Are you aware of the Yankees putting radio-tags on some students cheated by an Amrikan University? The are mostly rice-bag converts from AP!!

Except for a few stray incidents, the Muslims are now not into conversion business. It is your Missionary Beggars who are selling the Dead Jew On The Stick like the quacks selling peacock as a panecea!!

The Islamic Invaders had ruled major parts of present day India for nearly 700 years and the European Christian Colonizers had ruled almost complete present day India for nearly 200 years. What had they done for the “dalits” during that time? Why are you shedding crocodile tears for them now? Is that not an attempt to divide Hindus into upper castes and lower castes and then fish in troubled water??

Equality in Christianity and Islam are just myths. Had it been the case, there would not have been a single “dalit” in UP and surrounding areas ruled by the Islamic Invaders for nearly 600 years and in Kerala where the Missionaries were very active. Christianity is said to have reached the shores of Kerala in CE 52 with the arrival of St. Thomas (now disputed by the Pope himself) and Islam also reached the shores of Kerala in about a hundred years from the time it was founded in Arabia.

I have seen hundreds of persons (Hindus and Christians) returning to Kerala from Amrika!! I have even seen a few Jews who returned to Mattanchery (Cochin, Kerala) from their “Promised Land” and also a few Muslims from Malabar migrated to Pakistan during 1947 returning to spend the last years at their place of birth!!

I am not fond of any Religion but I really detest the Missionaries making a career out of conversion business and befooling the iliterate tribals of Orissa, MP, Karnataka, etc in the name of non-existent gods and heaven.

Btw the real fight is between the Christians and Muslims all over the world. Pl don’t drag the “paagans” into the same.

Retired dalit officer’s room ‘cleansed’ using cowdung water

    Thiruvananthapuram, April 7, (PTI):

In a shocking incident, the office room and furniture used by a senior government official belonging to a Scheduled caste community here were ‘cleansed’ by sprinkling cowdung water, allegedly by some employees shortly after his retirement from service.

A K Ramakrishnan, who retired as Inspector General of Registration on March 31, has moved the State Human Rights Commission seeking an inquiry into the incident.

He said in the complaint that he had reliable information that some employees in the office sprinkled ‘cowdung water’ over the tables, chairs and even inside the office car used by him while in service.

He said he believed that the ‘cleansing’ was performed as he belonged to an SC community and it amounted to violation of his human rights and civil liberties. After registering a case based on the petition, SHRC Chairman Justice N Dhinakar sent a notice to the Secretary Taxes, seeking a report on the allegation by May 7, SHRC sources said.

Asked about the incident, Ramakrishnan said he would vigorously pursue the case as he considered it as an insult to the socially depressed class.

“I take this not just as a personal insult. This is a humiliation heaped on the socially depressed classes as a whole. If this is the experience of a person who had held the topmost post in a government department, what would be the situation of ordinary people belonging to the lower rungs of social strata?” Ramakrishnan told PTI.

“All these five years when I worked as IG of Registration I had bitter experiences. But I have suffered them without getting worked up. But what has happened even after my retirement is really painful,” he said.

Dutch paedophile sentenced to 10 years RI

.Chennai, May 26 (PTI) A local Fast Track Court today sentenced Dutch paedophile Wil Heum to 10 years rigorous imprisonment for kidnapping children, indulging in unnatural sex with them and uploading child porn pictures on the Internet.

The 56-year-old was nabbed on November 7, 2009, following an Interpol police alert.

Heum was booked in 2002 by the Mahabalipuram police for sex offences against children, but let out on bail. In this case, he was accused of molesting 40 orphans at ”Little Home”, an orphanage opened by him at Mamallapuram in Chennai.

Heum, who came to India 30 years ago and started “social work”, stayed in Mamallapuram, where he befriended several children and started the orphanage.

During the trial, Heum confessed that he used children for ”unnatural relations” and also uploaded their ”acts” on the Internet, according to his confession statement submitted by the Chennai police.

The trial concluded on May 18 this year and Judge K Anbazhagan today convicted Heum under Sections 367 (Kidnapping or abducting in order to subject person to grievous hurt, slavery, etc) and 377 (Unnatural offenses), of CrPc and also under section 67-B (Publishing or transmitting of material depicting children in sexually explicit act, etc. in electronic form) of the Information Technology Act.

The accused was sentenced to undergo 10 years rigourous imprisonment and fined Rs 50,000.

“DALIT” is a recent name coined by the untouchable people which means ‘broken’ or oppressed or tormented people.it has a greek root for the same’.when the Britishers came they made a list or rather “a schedule” of lower castes in rural India.Thereafter those people are called scheduled caste.Long before that in India slavery was practising and those lowest castes are called ‘panchamas”or untouchables and eveen in some parts of Andhra and Tamilnadu these people are differntiated and untouchability is practised by higher caste.Hence the dalit is a new name but the age old untouchability was in INDIA.

  30. http://ascendantasia.blogspot.com/

Who converted you, miyan? Portuguese? Spaniards? Britishers? Amerikkkans? or was it Diggy Singh??

Caste System does not exist in India, see the findings by Ghent University Team. Caste System was a colonial projection of the British class system upon Indian heathen society. Codified Social Laws had never existed in India and thus a secret elite or cabal could not possibly control India, like the Church did in Europe with its “One True God” canard and with all “Laws” emanating from the “Creator”. The Church even bargained and apportioned “authority” to the “secular” rulers. If Codified Social Laws had existed in India, India would not have been “polytheistic” upon the Euro “Discovery” some 500 years ago and it would have had the concept of a One True God who was a Revelatory Lawgiver. At the very least, the presence of codified social “Laws” are necessary to make claims of an overarching “system” which ruled the lives of countless “suppresseds” over millenia and established a secret brahmin cabal, right, miyan?. Or otherwise they must have “overmen” of the Nazi variety?? Interestingly, the Brits never saw a caste system in the Mideast which was already monotheitized by Christianity’s cousin-child Islam.

Btw, i suggest you ask your padre of the following:

  32. Stealing Hindu children by Christians and christian NGOs and Christian adoption agencies are going on , on a massive scale in India. There is a custom among the Syrian Christians of Kerala for adoption of a son-in-law. The so called Syrian Christians are not from Syria but are low caste Hindu Pulaya converts in Keral, but they created fake history of immigration and conversion stories from the upper caste. Read the book of a British prist M L Mateer who lived decades in Kerala published in 1883 clearly established that the Syrian christians of Kerala are Pulaya converts. The book ‘Native life of Travancore’ by Rev. Samuel Mateer F L S shows that the Kerala Syrian christians are christian converts of the untouchable Hindu Paraya community of Kerala. Published in 1883 in London. Mateer, Samuel Native Life in Travancore HC., 450p, 45 Plates, 1 Map ISBN 8120605144 . Rev. Samuel Mateer stayed in Kerala. He found that none of the converts known as Kerala Syrian christians have no idea of Jesus Christ or cross. Where there are no sons, the husband of the youngest daughter is taken in adoption under Syrian Christians of Kerala custom. Mostly they adopt from poor Hindu family in earlier days and bring them up as Christians. Kerala Christians went to TN and made fake Thomas story and fake Syrian Christian story so that they will be called Syrian Christians instead of Paraya Christians. Christians destroyed the original Kapaleeswara temple in Chennai and constructed the Santome church over it. Velar Kanniamman temple has become the fake Velankanni church of the Keral chrisitans. Mostly kids just born are stolen by organised groupts in India and these children are bought and given away to foreigners by the christian adoption agencies of India. Often senior christian policemen are part of this racket in India and even in the rank of IG was seen in Hyderabad are a member of this gang. These groups are paid by the christian missionary organisations in the west and they are making their best effort to dilute the adoption rules in India so that Hindu children can be exported to the west to be brought up as sex slaves, organ trade and also to bring them up as Christians. On 3-5-2005, Chennai police arrested five people for kidnapping and selling about 350 children to an adoption agency in Chennai. There was an adoption scandal in AP in 1999. Women agents who act as Christian social workers, buy Lambada girls, for Rs 2000 and sell them to adoption agencies for Rs 20000. One Christian Sanjeeva Rao and his orphanage, ASD and another Christian Peter Subbaiah, who ran the Good Samaritan Evangelical and Social Welfare Association, were involved in this child trafficking to West. The Lambada were a traditionally nomadic people,in AP, now settled in various places are poor labourers. Lambada believe the third, sixth, and ninth child was, if a girl, is inauspicious and sell their kids. Kids are very fair making them more attractive to foreign parents. These christian orphanages sell the kids to foreigners for Rs one to two lakhs in intercountry adoption racket. Another AP Christian adoption agency called Action for Social Development used to sent kids illegally to USA., bit.ly/pJEF01, bit.ly/dy88Ou, bit.ly/buUX4h, bit.ly/eSoJT6, bit.ly/gg5ZcT, bit.ly/gBBlg0, scr.bi/nQZjzL, scr.bi/b26ikK,

(C) Summary: Embassy interlocutors report that after one year of UPA rule, limited government efforts to improve dalit (formerly called “”untouchables””) socioeconomic status have shown little success, ensuring that they continue to face severe economic and social discrimination. Government reservation laws do not extend to the private sector, the largest and fastest growing segment of the economy. Most experts believe the key to ending discrimination is a comprehensive education campaign starting at the primary level to teach acceptance of dalits, a topic completely absent from India’s public school system. Despite the political success of dalits such as current Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers Ram Vilas Paswan, dalits’ failure to organize at the national level has limited their ability to demand equal rights. Until the Indian majority increases pressure to change the status quo, many dalits will remain trapped below the poverty line in manual labor jobs with few mechanisms for upward mobility. End Summary.

    Discrimination Remains Despite Legal Protection

    ——————————————— —

    2. (U) Dalits, who make up approximately 16% of India’s population, roughly 166 million people, occupy the lowest position in the social structure and face constant and severe discrimination. Formerly called “”untouchables”” because “”caste Hindus”” believe they can be “”polluted”” by having any contact with them, most dalits remain trapped at the bottom rung of the caste ladder. In fact, most “”caste Hindus”” consider them to be so low as to be outside the caste system altogether.

    3. (C) Despite the passage of the Anti-Untouchability Act of 1955 and the Prevention of Atrocities Act of 1989, crimes against dalits are still a major social problem, and discrimination is widespread. According to Jawarahal Nehru University Professor and Director of the Indian Institute of Dalit Studies SK Thorat, all of the trappings of untouchability remain in rural India and rampant job discrimination occurs in India’s cities and towns. Thorat recently told Poloff that the approximately 18,000 caste-related discrimination cases filed annually with the Indian government are only a small fraction of the actual number. Vastly more cases go unreported, because dalits in rural areas still live under feudal systems and cannot risk angering their high-caste landlords. Thorat also commented that only the most serious and well-publicized acts of caste discrimination receive the attention of the Indian authorities.

    4. (C) Ram Nath Kovind, himself a dalit and a BJP MP from Uttar Pradesh, expressed a more positive view to Poloff recently, stating that “”open”” discrimination against dalits has decreased dramatically over the last decade, while the number of persons who genuinely care about helping dalits has increased. He maintained that while discrimination persists in the housing sector, employment decisions are usually free from bias. Executive Director of the South Asian Human Rights Documentation Center Ravi Nair agreed that employment discrimination against dalits has decreased over the last decade, while access to housing often remains based on caste.

    The Reservation System

    ———————-

    5. (U) The GOI uses a system of “”reservations,”” similar to affirmative action programs in the US, in an attempt to ameliorate the social and economic disparities resulting from the caste system. Under the system, dalits receive government-mandated, numerical quotas in government employment and education programs. The law requires the state to allocate approximately 16 percent of government jobs, seats in schools, the Parliament and State Assemblies, and public housing be to “”scheduled”” castes and tribes. These schedules contain a list of underprivileged groups determined by the government to need social assistance. There are no reservations for dalits in the military or the private sector.

    6. (C) Nair argued that the reservation system has only been partially successful in empowering dalits, because they often discriminate against each other. For example, in North India, a subgroup of dalits known as the Jatevs have become very successful in the leather industry. Nair indicated that this group of dalits would never help other dalit groups in the area, such as the Bhangi, which they consider lower. He observed that due to the many strata within each caste, the reservation system has created a “”creamy layer”” of successful people within the dalit community. In general, these groups have focused on solidifying their own positions rather than helping to empower other dalits, Nair stated.

    7. (C) Professor Thorat judged the reservation system as “”only a partial success”” and maintained that its effectiveness will decline in the future, because discrimination is rampant in the private sector, which is creating the most new jobs. Himself a dalit, Professor Thorat claimed that high-caste Hindus would almost always hire another caste Hindu over a dalit, even if the dalit were fully qualified for the job. He theorized that the religious basis of the caste system, which teaches that dalits hold their social position due to mistakes made in a prior life, allows caste Hindus to discriminate without guilt. BJP MP Kovind disagreed with Thorat, asserting to Poloff that current legislation has to a large degree been successful in protecting dalit rights, but that India still has work to do to end discrimination, citing increasing dalit access to primary education as a place to start.

    8. (C) Centuries of discrimination have confined most dalits to the lowest paying jobs. Thorat claimed that 70% of all dalits live in rural areas, and over 90% work in the agricultural sector as unskilled or day laborers. Most of the remainder are employed in manual, unskilled labor jobs in urban areas. Given these facts, he argued that only 5% of the working dalit population has actually benefited from the Indian reservation law. He acknowledged that while GOI poverty alleviation programs help dalits, the government does not strictly monitor them and many are never implemented. Thorat asserted that the vast majority of dalits are denied upward socioeconomic mobility due to lack of access to education, land, and capital. Kovind commented that the true basis of discrimination is economic in nature rather than caste-based, as the “”haves discriminate against the have nots”” and use the caste system to perpetuate differences between economic groups. Comparing the caste system to the trade guilds in feudal Europe (in that certain groups performed specific jobs), he added that under the caste system persons acquire their trade at birth, while the guilds allowed job mobility. Caste factors are now used to protect jobs and livelihoods more than anything else, Kovind argued.

    Poor Prospects for Improvement

    ——————————

    9. (C) Thorat and Justice Party President and Chairman of the All-India Confederation of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Organizations Dr. Udit Raj commented to us recently that despite India’s growing economy, the outlook for dalits remains bleak. According to Thorat, globalization and economic liberalization have actually hurt dalit prospects for progress and social mobility. Raj argued that liberalization will shift more of the economy from the public to the private sector, where hiring managers are almost exclusively from high castes and constantly discriminate against dalits, denying them the opportunities guaranteed by reservations. Unlike the United States, India has no equal opportunity law applicable to the private sector, which means that the rapidly expanding private sector is under no compulsion to hire dalits, while the public sector will have fewer jobs to offer. Kovind predicted that caste-based discrimination will exist for at least the next 50-100 years in India. He suggested that since the Hindu religion condones caste, it will take longer for the GOI to end caste discrimination in India than it will take to eradicate racial discrimination in the US.

    10. (C) Sangh Priya Guatam, a dalit BJP MP from Uttar Pradesh, India’s largest state and one of its poorest, agreed that dalits will be left behind in a globalizing world and that job reservations in the private sector would be an important tool to ensure equality. Guatam stated that the BJP favors private sector reservations and would like the UPA government to take up the issue in Parliament and not rely on the private sector to develop a solution. Thorat confirmed that a Ministerial Commission is researching the issue of reservations in the private sector. Raj did not expect positive results, commenting that the private sector fears losing competitiveness, especially in the information technology realm, should the GOI extend reservations to private industry. Thorat and Raj both denied that private sector reservations would hurt productivity, as many qualified dalit applicants could fill reserved slots. Kovind stated that the BJP favors reservations in the private sector and will pressure the UPA government to institute them.

    GOI-CII Agreement on Reservations

    ———————————

    11. (C) Thorat asserted that a June 2 agreement between the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment will likely prevent the extension of reservations to the private sector. Under the agreement, the GOI will not press for government-legislated private sector reservations for dalits. In exchange, the CII pledged to promote vocational skill advancement programs for dalits in the private sector. Thorat agreed that vocational programs are necessary, but will not help dalits as much as reservations. Raj concurred, stating that with a rapidly growing population and an excess of workers, high-caste hiring managers will always choose non-dalits, regardless of qualifications, unless the law forces them to do otherwise.

    12. (C) Dalits view the GOI-CII agreement as yet another mechanism to maintain the status quo, according to Raj. He argued that with the BJP and Congress dominated by upper-castes with little interest in increasing opportunities for the lower castes, both parties have abandoned platforms aimed at empowering the poor and elevating the socioeconomic status of dalits, while Congress has exploited its secular identity to justify inaction. The high castes want to preserve the status quo because they benefit from it. A large segment of the population living in desperation guarantees a pool of workers willing to work for minuscule salaries and perform the most menial jobs. Raj anticipates that the CII,s promise to offer vocational training to dalits will never be adequately implemented and is unlikely to increase dalit employment opportunities.

    Solutions?

    ———-

    13. (C) Education programs for Indian youth to increase egalitarian attitudes are the only way to truly break caste discrimination, according to Thorat and Raj, although they asserted that the initiative needed to centrally mandate such education in all public schools is absent. Raj proffered that the upper-castes have enjoyed thousands of years of free access to education, at the expense of dalits. These same castes remain in control of India’s educational institutions and, consequently, few administrators wish to mandate or incorporate education programs advocating dalit equality. Thorat and Raj contend that the human rights awareness classes currently offered in some schools are wholly inadequate, as they do not cover caste discrimination or critically investigate the unjust norms regarding interpersonal relationships between dalits and the caste Hindus still practiced today. Raj pointed out that until such education programs are implemented, schools will serve as breeding grounds for prejudice, and upper caste children will continue to learn that it is permissible to discriminate against dalits. He argued that the present system teaches caste Hindus that it is acceptable to cheat dalits and discriminate against them.

    14. (C) Reservations in public education institutions have not translated into enhanced socioeconomic status for dalits, according to Thorat. Schools and teachers are unable to keep up with the growing numbers of children, and dalits are usually the first children denied an education when resources are scarce. Therefore, many dalits have no access to the primary education necessary to qualify for education-based reservations in the university system. Since public schools frequently offer substandard education, and the vernacular education they provide is held in low regard, few members of the Indian elite and middle class attend them. This leaves private, English-medium education as the principal tool for upward mobility. As a result, argues Raj, GOI-enforced dalit reservation in public schools has not led to increased social mobility, and most dalits with access to education remain in manual, unskilled jobs that others refuse to take.

    15. (C) Raj also questioned whether the GOI was committed to taking effective action to end discrimination against dalits, claiming that most members of the Indian Commission on Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes which investigates violations of anti-caste discrimination law are from the upper castes and not genuinely interested in the plight of dalits. As a result, the Commission overlooks most day-to-day discrimination to concentrate on a few highly publicized acts of violence or discrimination, he stated.

    Dalit Rights Movements

    ———————-

    16. (U) Dalits’ perception of their plight varies from region to region, according to Thorat. He noted that the civil rights agitation for dalits began in South India with the “”self-respect movement”” in the early 20th century. Consequently, dalits in the South have seen more improvements than their counterparts in the North, where the movement for equality was much slower and began only after Partition in 1947. As a result, Northern dalits generally harbor greater ill will towards the upper castes than those in the South, because of the higher and more recent levels of discrimination against them.

    17. (U) This finds expression in the bitter caste-based politics of the North India “”Hindi Belt”” which has spawned such parties as the dalit-based Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) of Uttar Pradesh and its fiery leader Mayawati, who routinely rails against the excesses of “”caste Hindus,”” while pledging to openly discriminate in favor of dalits. In South India, the dalit agenda has been largely absorbed by more broad-based regional parties such as the AIDMK and DMK in Tamil Nadu, or the Communists in Kerala.

    18. (U) With dalits estimated to constitute from 16% to 27% of the Indian population, the lack of progress for dalits has both political and social implications. Their lack of access to jobs in the growing private sector, and limited access to land and capital, has led increasing numbers of dalits to convert to other religions, such as Buddhism, Christianity, and Islam, which have not institutionalized caste, in hope of obtaining redress. However, for many, interpersonal and economic discrimination has continued despite conversion, as most caste Hindus in their local communities continue to regard them as dalits despite their change of religion.

    19. (U) Thorat argued that political organizations have also proven ineffective. After 1947, most dalits pledged allegiance to Congress, but many became discouraged by what they viewed as the party’s failure to live up to its promises in the ensuing decades. With the departure of many dalits from Congress, their votes have become fragmented between numerous and disparate political organizations, preventing them from forming a cohesive lobby capable of pressuring the GOI to address their concerns. Congress is trying to convince dalits to return to the fold, but with little success, and they remain divided. Thorat and Raj argue that massive religious conversions or political organization have failed to provide necessary social change. With these avenues proving largely ineffective, dalits remain discouraged and fatalistic. Kovind, who heads the BJP’s dalit cell, disagreed, asserting that his party is determined to help dalits and shed the image that it is only an “”upper caste party.”” He argued that only a nationalist party like the BJP will succeed in fighting discrimination against dalits, as India cannot become a world power until dalits and low-caste persons are brought up to the level of the rest of society.

    20. (C) Prominent human rights expert Nair stated that dalits need to take their case to the courts if they want to achieve emancipation. He argued that laws protecting dalits exist, but that they have not used them effectively, and that dalit groups do not use the large donations they receive from the government, the donor community and private sources effectively. He said that they should mirror the civil rights movement in the US and set up legal aid defense groups. These groups of lawyers would ensure that dalit cases are heard and judgments rendered against those who discriminate. Nair warned that nothing will change until people who discriminate go to jail or face stiff financial penalties. He did not expect dalits to implement his plan, because their leaders are more interested in rhetoric than doing the hard work required to mount a meaningful challenge in the courts.

    Success Stories

    —————

    21. (U) Despite widespread discrimination, a number of dalits have become successful. The highest profile case is that of K.R. Narayanan, who served as President of India from 1997-2002. Ram Vilas Paswan, currently holding two Ministerial level positions (Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers and Minister for Steel), is a very successful politician from Bihar. BSP president and a three-time Member of Parliament from Uttar Pradesh Mayawati is also a well-known dalit. However, these persons have all benefited from the reservation system and local interlocutors stated it unlikely that they would have reached these positions without affirmative action programs. The Dalit NGO Dalitawaz lists dalits from a wide range of professions, including doctors, lawyers, engineers and civil servants, indicating that, despite the odds, it is possible for members of this disenfranchised group to do well.

    Comment

    ——-

    22. (C) While the UPA has focused on bettering the lot of the dalit community, it is dominated by upper caste Hindus, very few of whom are genuinely concerned about the plight of dalits. This ensures that dalits will continue to be an oppressed, discriminated group in India. Although the GOI has passed legislation and established government bodies to administer these laws, it has failed to attack the root of the problem. There are success stories, but acts of violence and prejudice against dalits, combined with government negligence, persist and there is little upward mobility among the dalit population. Without a broader, more comprehensive approach to teach tolerance and equality early in primary schools, it is unlikely that the social acceptance of caste-based discrimination will fade any time soon. The increasing dominance of the private sector in the economy could also result in greater economic polarization if there is no mechanism in place to combat job discrimination.

Village chief stuffs Dalit’s mouth with excreta in UP
Sanjay Pandey, Lucknow, April 1, 2012, DHNS:

In a shocking incident, a “pradhan” (village panchayat chief) and his supporters allegedly stuffed human excreta into the mouth of a Dalit youth in Uttar Pradesh’s Lalitpur district.

According to a complaint registered with the police, the culprits, residents of Mailwara Khurd village in the district, also thrashed the youth and threatened him with dire consequences if he dared to approach the police.

Police sources said that the youth had approached Chaliraja, the “pradhan” of the village on Thursday last and had sought funds for the construction of a lavatory near the homes of Dalits so that they could use them and did not have to defecate in the open.

As the youth continued to insist despite his pleas being summarily rejected, the “pradhan” and his supporters grew angry and began to thrash him, reports said.
They later stuffed the youth’s mouth with human excreta and let him go away with a warning against approaching the police.

The “humiliated” youth, however, gathered courage and along with a large number of the villagers approached the police officials and a report was lodged at Kotwali police station, sources said. The local BSP legislators Ramesh Kushwaha and Pheranlal Ahirwar also met the District Police Chief with the victim and urged him to take stern action against the culprits.

    On rise

The two BSP leaders alleged that the incidents of atrocities on the dalits have been on the rise ever since the Samajwadi Party (SP) was formed in the state. They also said that they will raise the matter in the state Assembly during its forthcoming session. Four people, including the “pradhan,” have been named by the victim. All the four have been absconding and a massive manhunt has been launched to nab them. Special police teams have been formed and raids are being conducted at different places.

BHUBANESWAR: The Puri district police on Saturday denied that chairman of the National SC/ST Commission P L Puniya had entered a Kali temple at Ranapada village near Brahmagiri. A section of the media had reported that Puniya had entered the temple, breaking an age-old ban on the entry of Dalits into temples in Puri.

IIC (Brahmagiri police station) Debi Prasad Dash said Puniya, along with senior officials of the commission, visited the temple but did not enter it.

Puniya and Jajpur MP Mohan Jena along with several officials had visited Ranapada, about 30km from Puri, on Friday following allegations of atrocities against the lower caste people in the area.

The villagers had earlier moved the commission after some upper caste people from neighbouring Nuapada village allegedly assaulted three girls inside a temple in August last. The upper caste people had allegedly humiliated the girls by calling them “untouchables”.

During his interaction with villagers, Puniya was informed it was against traditions to allow dalits into the temple. Stating that there was discrimination against Dalits in the village, he said he would take up the matter at the national level.

The commission would also seek a report from the state government asking it to explain as to why law had not been enforced to protect the interests of dalits, he said.

“The lower caste people of Ranapada village are still going through sleepless nights. They are a frightened a lot,” Jena said. “The Dalit people narrated their plight to the commission chairman. The Centre would seek an explanation from the state government on the issue,” he added.

“The upper caste people have socially ostracized the lower caste people in the village. The district administration should come to their rescue,” said Bibhu Prasad Tripathy, counsel of the lower caste people.

Local police said the tussle between the upper and lower caste people had led to skirmishes. “There were minor clashes between the two groups. We arrested a number of people belonging to the upper caste society for suppressing dalits,” the Brahmagiri police station IIC said.

Puri district collector Fakir Charan Satapathy said, “There is no tension in the village right now. Nor have they been socially boycotted.”

Forcible conversion of Hindu girls on rise in Sindh: HRCP
    PTI
    Share · Comment (9) · print · T+

On an average around 20 to 25 Hindu girls are being forcibly converted to Islam every month in the southern Sindh province, Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) has said.

Urging the authorities to take note of these forced conversions, HRCP officials told reporters on Saturday that culprits were taking advantage of loopholes in the law.

Amarnath Motumel of the HRCP said that within a month 20 forced conversions had taken place.

“Apart from minor school girls, married women with children are not spared either,” he said.

The issue of Hindu girls being forcibly converted has come to the fore after the case of 18-year-old Rinkle Kumari from Sukkur who has converted and taken the Muslim name of Faryal after marrying a Muslim boy.

The family of the girl claim she was kidnapped and forcibly converted even after she appeared in court in Sukkur and claimed she converted out of her own free will.

But Motumel pointed out that not only were affected families warned of dire consequences but whenever a Hindu girl or her family appeared in court hundreds of religious zealots gather to pressurise them or they take to the streets as pressure tactics and to create an atmosphere of fear.

The families of Rinkle Kumari were also present at the conference in which her brother Inder said that had she been allowed to meet with her family members privately and even once she would never have converted.

“Despite the President’s orders for the girl’s rescue we are still waiting for something to be done.”

HRCP official Professor Badar Soomro said there was a need to enact new laws to restore a sense of security among the Hindu community.

He also said if a girl is kidnapped and her family registers a case she should be kept in a Darul Aman at least for a month before she is produced in court to record her statement.
India must pay attention to save Hindu’s Civil rights in Pakistan!

    Christians discriminated against, bishops warn
    Lord Carey
Lord Carey called on the government to end its “discrimination”

A group of Church of England Bishops have accused the government of discriminating against Christians while treating other faiths more leniently.

In a letter to the Sunday Telegraph, they claim traditional Christian beliefs are being sidelined.

They highlight the case of an NHS nurse who was moved from front-line duties after refusing to remove her cross.

The government said it was committed to valuing the contribution Christians made within British society.

    ‘Deeply concerned’

Signatories of the letter include the former Archbishop of Canterbury, Lord Carey, and the Bishops of Winchester and Blackburn.

They accuse nurse Shirley Chaplin’s employers of treating her beliefs with disrespect, while happily allowing symbols of other religions to be worn.

There have been numerous dismissals of practising Christians from employment for reasons that are unacceptable in a civilised country
    Extract from Bishops’ letter

Crucifixes are an important symbol and the government should end its “discrimination”, they argued.

Ms Chaplin, from Exeter, is fighting for the right to openly wear a crucifix at work.

The church leaders said it was unacceptable in a civilised society to dismiss Christians from their jobs over matters of conscience.

The letter reads: “We are deeply concerned at the apparent discrimination shown against Christians and we call on the government to remedy this serious development.

“In a number of cases, Christian beliefs on marriage, conscience and worship are simply not being upheld.

“There have been numerous dismissals of practising Christians from employment for reasons that are unacceptable in a civilised country.”

A Communities and Local Government spokesperson said: “We’re committed to valuing the contribution that Christians make within British society.

“This is evident through our engagement with a wide range of Christian churches at national, regional and local level.”

Christianity is the second fastest growing religion in Pakistan. A large no. Of hindus, buddhist and Sikhs who do not wan’t to convert to the murduress cult of Islam are now converting to christianity in Pakistan. Islamic laws dictate that :1 muslim man=2 muslim women=2christian/jewish men=4christian/jewish women=15 Pagan/idol worshiping men=30 Pagan/idol worshiping women. Islam accepts christians and jews as dhimmis or second class citizens hereas idolators only deserve death. Due to this reason hindus in pakistan are converting to christianity as they have better chance of survival. If a church is attacked, its all over the news but if a temple is attacked, no one gives a fuck! Not even Indian Hindus!
